What is Erasmus+?

Erasmus+ is the EU’S programme to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe.

Which are the Goals of the Program?

The aim of Erasmus+ is to contribute to the Europe 2020 strategy for growth, jobs, social equity and inclusion, as well as the aims of ET2020, the EU’s strategic framework for education and training.

Erasmus+ also aims to promote the sustainable development of its partners in the field of higher education, and contribute to achieving the objectives of the EU Youth Strategy.

Specific issues tackled by the programme include:

  • Reducing unemployment, especially among young people
  • Promoting adult learning, especially for new skills and skills required by the labour market.
  • Encouraging young people to take part in European democracy
  • Supporting innovation, cooperation and reform
  • Reducing early school leaving
  • Promoting cooperation and mobility with the EU’s partner countries

School groups: student work experience abroad

Erasmus+ encourages young people (Higher education students and Vocational education and training students) to gain work experience internationally, increase their cultural awareness and enhance their employability. School, organisation or institution must apply for funding and the placement choice has to relate to the students’ specific program of learning at school and their personal development needs. Applications can not be made by individuals.

Through key action 1 of the Erasmus + program it is possible to spend training periods abroad in one of the member countries of the European Union. Each school can involve students, teachers, and internal staff to offer the opportunity to improve their professional profile and increase their skills. The school will also be able to improve its educational offer and stand out for the opportunities offered to its students and staff in Europe.

High school and vocational training students can participate from the first year of the course up to 12 months after graduation. The activities foreseen by the program are two:

  • a study period abroad at a partner equivalent higher education institution
  • a traineeship (work placement) abroad in a enterprises operating in the student’s study programme

The activities can be carried out for periods from a minimum of 2 weeks to a maximum of 12 months.

During the mobility, the student acquires both technical and professional skills related to the course of study and transversal skills.

Depending on the course of study, the student will improve the operability of the profession he intends to undertake, learning procedures and best practices to excel and make a difference both during the school period and at the end of the studies. All that will facilitate the entry into the world of work. Experience abroad is a fundamental requirement to increase professional value and expand job prospects. Student will learn to be independent and to manage themselves abroad, improving their English competences.

The program finances student mobility by covering travel, board and lodging expenses and linguistic support (where applicable).

High schools, vocational and adult training centres teaching and non-teaching staff can take part in the following activities:

  • job shadowing
  • observation periods
  • training
  • teaching at another organisation

The activities can be carried out for periods from a minimum of 2 days to a maximum of 2 months.
The program finances teachers and school staff mobility covering travel, board and lodging expenses and linguistic support (where provided).

From June 2020 up to a maximum of 24 months, the activities foreseen by the program can be organized in periods ranging from two weeks to a year, following the course of study and equivalent to the home institution.

Starting from your institution and your studies, we will provide students and school staff with the opportunity to improve their skills without thoughts and worries.

It is possible to undertake a training or internship in Bulgaria, Slovakia, Spain, Portugal and Cyprus. The official language for all activities will be English. Other destinations can be evaluated as needed.
